If youd like to spend your time away from
home enjoying beautiful rugged scenery, water sports on lakes and
streams, dune beaches on the Pacific coastline, or just relaxing
and enjoying the many amenities at a resort, then Osprey Point RV
Resort is the destination for you. This resort
is located on Tenmile Lake, the premier bass fishing lake in Oregon.
Coho salmon, steelhead, bigmouth bass, bluegill, black crappie,
brown bullheads, and rainbow trout are just some of the varieties
that you can expect to be putting on your stringer.
If you want to see the Pacific Northwest as youve always imagined
it, take a scenic drive along the coastline on nearby Highway 101.
It stretches for 400 miles along the Oregon coast, but just an hours
drive to the north will put you in Florence, where the rocky shoreline
softens into big sandy beaches. In some places between the town
and the ocean, the sand dunes are as tall as 300 feet.
Drive into the preserved Old Town area of Florence to visit the
shops and historic buildings, seafood markets, and Hecata Head Lighthouse
and Sea Lion Caves, the only known inland shelter for sea lions
in the nation. If you want to try your luck fishing, you can charter
a fishing excursion at the harbor. Also, you can get a close-up
view of, and even a slide down, the spectacular range of mountainous
sand dunes in the nearby Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.
Next to the Recreation Area is the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park
with 2.5 miles of shoreline and some sand dunes that are as tall
as 500 feet. Even though its not open to the public, you can see
the lighthouse with its red beacon that can be seen for as far away
as 20 miles. Heading south, youll find the states most
productive sport-fishing harbors at Reedsport and Winchester Bay.
While youre in Reedsport, visit the Antarctic Research Vessel
Hero, where you can relive what it was like spending months exploring
Antarctica aboard a 720-horsepower, oak-hull ship. |
