Resort Profile

If you enjoy the great outdoors with the Pacific Northwest scenery at its finest, along with unlimited recreational opportunities, and you’re anticipating a few days of peace and quiet, your destination should be the Cascade Meadows RV Park. Elevation 4,200 feet.

In the 50,000-acre Newberry National Volcanic Monument area near La Pine you can go on a naturalist-led walk, see the lava formations and waterfalls, or enjoy fishing in Lakes East and Paulina. Paulina Peak and a panoramic view of the area’s awesome natural beauty are only a few hours’ drive away. For more of the splendor of the high mountain country, travel to the west and walk along some of the 1,400 miles of trails in the Willamette National Forest. Four wilderness areas in the 1,675,407-acre park feature extensive volcanic formations and waterfalls, and mountain lakes can be seen when you follow the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail that winds through the Cascade Mountains.

Just a short drive to the north is the town of Bend, the recreation center for Central Oregon. Skiers will want to visit the more than 30 miles of cross-country trails and the sight-seeing excursions to the peak at Mount Bachelor. Visible for several miles in the distance are the Three Sister Peaks. For an 87-mile scenic drive of the area, follow the Cascade Lakes Highway west past Mount Bachelor, then south and east to Fall River. Follow US 97 north for the return trip to Bend.

Just south of Bend, learn more about the history of the mountainous region at The High Desert Museum, a living-history participation museum. The walk-through exhibit, “The Spirit of the West,” traces the history of the West back more than a century. Nature lovers should allow some time to walk along the 20 acres of nature trails surrounding the museum.
