Located just 10 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico
and surrounded by majestic oaks and stately pine trees in the Piney
Woods, Five Star Family Parks RV Resort is a tourists paradise.
The Fountain Bayou circles through the resort which is also bordered
by the Wolf River, making fishing one of the many popular things
to do in the area. A short drive to the east of the resort is the
Gulf Coast resort of Gulfport. An important seaport, the city has
miles of boulevards, beaches, and beach drives. Excursion boats
travel from Gulfport to Ship Island, a staging ground for the British
during the War of 1812 and for Union troops in 1862. Fort Massachusetts,
one of many 19th-century coastal defense forts, is on the island.
Among the tourist attractions in nearby Biloxi is the Beauvoir-Jefferson
Davis Shrine, the last home of Jefferson Davis, the only president
of the Confederate States of America. Surrounded by picturesque
grounds, the 1853 home and the pavilions are fully restored and
furnished with mostly original Davis pieces.
If glitter, lights, and gambling are on your agenda, visit any one
of the 15 casinos located from Bay, St. Louis to Biloxi, where 1,500
slot machines, gaming tables, live entertainment, and food are available.
Fun for all the family is easy to find with visits to Fun Time USA,
Water World, and Marine Life, all in the area. All the glamour of
the French Quarter and New Orleans is less than an hours drive
south. |
