Resort Profile

Canopies of beech and maple trees are the perfect backdrop for a family retreat at this activity-oriented 68-acre resort on the shores of 20-acre Donovan Lake. Located only 13 miles from Lake Michigan at the southwestern corner of the Lower Peninsula, the resort and surrounding area offer many opportunities for adventure and fun.

The orchards, farms, and nurseries of the area inspire many celebrations, including apple, strawberry, peach, tulip, and gladiola festivals. Favorites include the Blossomtime Grand Floral Parade and Festival Week (April/May) and the National Blueberry Festival (July or August). The blueberries are so popular that the resort serves blueberry pancakes every weekend during the season.

Other fun events in the region include the annual Great Lakes Nationals classic car show in Berrien Springs (May), the celebration of music and fun runs at Dowagiac Dazzle Days (July), the Harbor Boat Tour in South Haven (August), the Paw Paw Wine and Harvest Festival (September), the Lawrence Ox Roast and Homecoming (September), the Antique Engine and Tractor Show (September), the pre-Halloween Amazing Maize Maze Challenge at Wahmhoff Farms in nearby Gobles (October), the Van Buren County Fair (May-October), and races at the Hartford Motor Speedway.

Nearby St. Joseph and Benton Harbor encourage fun-filled education for kids of all ages at the Curious Kids Museum and the Michigan Maritime Museum. Two other favorite spots are Silver Beach and one of the last operating lighthouses in the United States.

Van Buren State Park provides additional hiking and recreation opportunities, and a short drive away, the Kalamazoo Nature Center’s arboretum, farm, historical homestead, and nature trails showcase exotic plants and animals, including a unique glass-domed environment in the Sun and Rain room. In nearby Coloma, Deer Forest and the Sarret Nature Center offer more fun and insights for nature lovers.
