In the subtropical paradise of southern Californias
Coachella Valley, Western Horizon Resorts-Desert Pools offers its
guests a variety of recreational amenities in a beautifully landscaped
park featuring three hot tubs fed by mineral hot springs. The Coachella
Valley, with a huge underground lake beneath it, is a part of the
desert that has been transformed into the paradise that makes Desert
Hot Springs and Palm Springs the popular desert vacation areas they
are today.
A mecca for golfers, more than 80 golf courses in the area are open
to the public, including the many fine courses which have challenged
some of the best golfers in the world during nationally televised
tournaments. Hikers can use the fifty miles of trails in the San
Jacinto Wilderness Park, or they can trek through Indian Canyons,
part of the sacred land still owned by the Cahuilla Indians. Nearby,
Joshua Tree National Park covers more than 870 square miles north
of I-10 and east of Desert Hot Springs. Here youll see Joshua
trees, cactuses, ocotillos, smoke trees, palo verdes, pinion pines,
Mojave yuccas and a fine array of spring wildflowers.
The fashionable resort city of Palm Springs, located at the base
of 10,804-ft. San Jacinto Peak, is just 12 miles away and offers
a variety of shopping and dining including the famed El Paso Drive
and its abundance of boutiques, specialty shops, galleries, and
malls. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will transport you 2-1/2
miles from Valley Station at 2,643 ft. in the Chino Canyon to Mountain
Station at 8,516 ft. at the eastern edge of Long Valley. The tram
affords spectacular views and access to the rugged San Jacinto Mountains.
Both stations have observation decks and picnic areas. Two nearby
major gaming casinos, Fantasy Springs and Spotlight 29 offer video
poker, slots, and table games. |
