The resort is located in the high desert country of beautiful southeastern
Arizona, at an elevation of 3,500 feet. Visitors can enjoy the many
varieties of animal life and plant life that are in the area.
Kartchner Caverns, situated within a short distance of the resort,
provides the underground wonders of a live cave. Reservations are
required. South on Highway 80, visitors can get a taste of the Old
West by visiting the famous frontier town of Tombstone. Here, young
and old can explore Boot Hill Cemetery, Bird Cage Theater, Courthouse
State Historic Park, and the OK Corral, where the Earp and Clanton
clans met face-to-face for their notorious shoot out.
The mining community of Bisbee and the Mexico border town of Douglas
is situated further south. Ghost towns dot the area, just waiting
to be rediscovered. The Dragoon Mountains, home of Cochises
stronghold, offers an interesting historic site. These lookouts
are where Cochise sought refuge from the U.S. Cavalry during the
years of the Indian wars. Nearby Tucson features shopping opportunities
as well as a multitude of sporting and cultural events. Here, you
can take in the breathtaking mountain scenery, visit one of the
local 18-hole golf courses, or visit Nogales, Mexico, only an hour
away.
Additional nearby attractions include: an excursion train, the Ramsey
Canyon Preserve, a hummingbird sanctuary, and the Ft. Huachuca Buffalo
Soldier Museum. |
